A strong commitment to sustainability in all aspects of daily and ongoing operations is vital to the long term growth and health of salmon farming in British Columbia and Canada.  The following documents provide further evidence of this commitment.

Canadian Farmed Seafood Sustainability Checklist – discusses various sustainability criteria and how the salmon farming industry is responding.

Letter from Fisheries and Oceans Canada – this letter from David Bevan, Assistant Deputy Minister, to Ruth Salmon, Executive Director Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance, outlines DFO’s support of and commitment to a sustainable aquaculture industry.

SOTA Response to Greenpeace Campaign – this media release from the Salmon of the Americas (SOTA) provides information to retailers and consumers about the campaign and how salmon farming provides a sustainable and healthy food choice.  Salmon of the Americas provides information on farmed salmon as a healthy and safe food choice at www.salmonfacts.org.
