Aquaculture Associations
Aboriginal Aquaculture Association was established in July, 2003 by six Founding Members, representing a cross-section of aboriginal leaders in British Columbia. These leaders had come to realize that there were very few opportunities for their band members to look forward to within the resource sectors of their local communities. After careful studies, they concluded that various forms of aquaculture may provide successful careers for their communities, especially among young aboriginal people.
Aquaculture Association of Canada (AAC) was incorporated in February 1984. It is a non-profit, charitable organization with the goals of fostering an aquaculture industry in Canada, promoting the study of aquaculture and related sciences in Canada, gathering and disseminating information relating to aquaculture, and creating public awareness and understanding of aquaculture.
Canadian Aquaculture Industry Alliance (CAIA) is a national industry association, headquartered in Ottawa that represents the interests of Canadian aquaculture operators, feed companies and suppliers, as well as provincial finfish and shellfish aquaculture associations.
BC Shellfish Growers Association is the industry association representing the majority of shellfish farmers in BC.
Northern Ontario Aquaculture Association (NOAA), the voice of Ontario's environmentally responsible aquaculture industry, is located in Little Current, Ontario on beautiful Manitoulin Island. The NOAA is proud of its members Rainbow Trout that are raised in a manner which respects and protects the beautiful pristine environment that is essential to the future existence of the agri-food industry.
Salmon of the Americas (SOTA) is an organization of salmon-producing companies in North and South America, whose mission is to improve health, awareness and dining enjoyment of consumers in North America by providing timely, complete, accurate and insightful information about salmon on behalf of the member companies.
